07 AprCessna Aircraft reports 30 Sun ‘n Fun orders
Cessna Aircraft Company, a Textron Inc. company, took orders for 30 aircraft last week at Sun ‘n Fun. AVWeb is citing the aircraft orders as a possible sign of industry recovery taking hold.
The company announced the sales in a press release earlier this week.
“The opening days of Sun ’n Fun were very positive, and while the storm on Thursday interrupted that mood somewhat, the exhibitors and the crowds bounced back to finish the show strong,” Mark Paolucci, Cessna’s senior vice president of Sales and Marketing, said in the release.
Included in the aircraft ordered were 16 orders for the new Corvalis TTX, which debuted during Sun ‘n Fun’s opening day. The high performance single features new standard and optional equipment, as well as new interior and paint scheme options and the Intrinzic flight deck powered by the Garmin G2000.
According to a release from Cessna, the “Intrinzic is a Cessna-designed cockpit that incorporates the latest developments in human factors engineering, ergonomics and user experience to create environments that make flying simpler and more pleasurable.”
“We’ve taken an airplane with incredible performance and made flying it even more natural and instinctive with Intrinzic,” said Jack J. Pelton, Cessna chairman, president and CEO, in the release.
The Corvalis TTX is the first Cessna piston with no analog instruments. It features the L-3 Trilogy glass panel standby instrument system. Also available is a standard pulse oximeter to monitor blood-oxygen levels in the pilot. The readings are then displayed on the MFD.
Cessna is slated to begin deliveries of the Corvalis TTX in 2012.
Cessna also took 13 orders for high-wing single-engine pistons- that includes five 172 Skyhawks for the University of North Dakota’s John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences.
A Cessna Sales Team Authorized Representative also took an order for a Grand Caravan during the expo.
